GR€€D is a statement against the savage financialization of everything, a reflection on how speculation has invaded the realm of creation. When the market dictates what art should be, art itself is reduced to a token, stripped of its urgency and depth. The speculative side of art, when dominant, transforms expression into transaction, and the artist into an asset manager of their own ideas.
This work exposes that inversion. It stands against the notion that value can precede meaning. True art flourishes when creation comes first, when vision leads and speculation, if it comes at all, arrives later. History shows that when art is born from necessity, curiosity, or emotion rather than financial expectation, the outcome resonates longer, deeper, and truer.
At the same time, GR€€D reflects on how the discourse around art itself has been impoverished. Conversations that once revolved around ideas, aesthetics, and meaning are now absorbed by discussions of price, performance, and market ranking. The cultural dialogue is devoured by financial metrics and art criticism becomes investment analysis where artistic relevance is measured in market caps. In this process, art loses not only its independence but also its capacity to inspire, provoke, and transform.
Greed is released from TheWallet, an open experiment where the seed phrase is public, accessible to everyone and owned by no one. This openness turns collaboration into conflict, as users compete to extract whatever value can be taken. The resulting struggle, a perpetual tug-of-war for profit, becomes the artwork itself: a living, self-destructive system that perfectly mirrors the extractive logic dominating the contemporary digital and financial landscape.
Art is dead, long live the art!
Truly,
CCDDBB
